Walk-through, how to get any file off allofmp3.com free and without DRM
So first came the music for masses player that allowed any file to be downloaded for free but the downside was the DRM. Then came a hack to remove DRM but it was all a bit confusing. Here is a walk-through with all the files needed for the hack (including the musicformasses set up) It even keeps the right file names! very easy and very rewarding.

Got DRM'ed music? Stick it into the AnalogWhole
Its about time. This guy's written an app that automatically transfers DRM'ed songs thru the analog hole. Any file that will play in Windows Media Player (i.e. all music from Napster, URGE, Rhapsody etc...) can be converted to an MP3. It even adds it to iTunes for you. Just tell it where your DRM'ed music is stored and walk away. And its free!

And now AnywhereMP3
"Michael Robertson is at it again. He has launched AnywhereMP3.com, a flash-based MP3 player, which allows those with Mp3tunes.com accounts to stream their music and listen to it on their computers. Think of it as an add-on, incase you don’t have any MP3 playback software on your machine, or you are using a computer other than your own machine." - Om Malik [full story]

AllofMp3 Won't Go Down Without a Fight

Wal-Mart to RIAA: We're not gonna take it!

It appears that the cheap retail giant is tired of selling overpriced CDs and wants to cut the prices and still maintain a profit. Kudos to Wal-Mart on this one, we all know that CD prices have been out of this world for sometime.

10 Great Sites To Find Free MP3 Music

There's lots of great music out there for the taking, but it's not always easy to find. Here's my list of the ten best sites [in no particular order] to get great music delivered directly to my ears. Some of them are legal, some are in a "gray area", and then some flat out disregard the laws entirely. My thoughts are to use the ones you like and leave legality and morality to the judgmentals.

The Hype Machine - Great music blog content aggregator that offers various music streaming and playlist options. Find out what songs everyone is talking about.

3pm - Of course there's our very own MP3 download/streaming site that grabs a ton of music from around the Internet and sorts it into a single, easy to navigate, page.

G2P - This little tool uses Google search for finding MP3 files around the web.

Jamendo - Find great music from artists who publish their works under the Creative Commons license. Allows you to stream or download entire albums in Ogg or MP3 formats.

Surch - Cool, and relatively new, search engine that works for you to find MP3s and other audio formats of music you want to hear.

OverClocked ReMix - Mix it up with MP3 downloads of video and computer game music remixed in unique and interesting ways to bring you into the music you remember from the games you love.

Singingfish - A great audio/video search engine that provides various search filtering options to help you find tons of audio and video files.

Inernet Archive: Audio Archive - Find tons of audio files you thought were lost to the ages and even upload your own works to make it available for generations to come.

KOhit - Another great place to find and download MP3s as well as song lyrics.

MP3tunes + Sideload - Like a dynamic duo, MP3tunes provides the space to backup, sync, and listen to your digital music collection, while Sideload provides thousands of free music tracks to jam into your MP3tunes locker.

The Day DRM Stood Still

Apple Fairplay reverse engineered and FOR SALE
DRM-buster DVD Jon has reverse-engineered Apple's Fairplay and licensing it to companies who want their media to play on Apple's devices. Instead of breaking the DRM (something he'ss already done), Jon has replicated it, and wants to license the technology to companies that want their content (music, movies, whatever) to play on Apple devices.

Anti-DRM Action Day on October 3 [Today]
The best way to defeat DRM may well be to cause it to fail in the market, and the first step in that direction is to make people aware of the scope of the problem. To that end, Defective By Design is putting together a day of anti-DRM activities for October 3. The list of actions covers four pages and is worldwide in scope.
