3pm Injection [27]

This week on 3pm Injection we'd like to get to know your music tastes. Tell us your current number one track you like in your music collection or any song you've heard recently and would like to share with other 3pm users. For me, I've been into a little dub, a little Gnarls Barkley, a couple Lady Sovereign tracks, and some Mos Def. My top played track has to be Mixmaster Mike - Skanner 13.

Stayin' Alive At 3pm

We're serving up some new 3pm update goodness real soon folks. I would have liked to have gotten the new mp3 links up on the site sooner, but I got hit with what seems to be a stomach virus. In the mean time, here's a taste of what's to come [and I promise it won't make you as sick as I've been].
The RZA - Fatal
Overseer - Never
The RZA - The Way Of The Samurai
Overseer - Supermoves

Could We See Zune Sell For $99?

There's some interesting speculation going on about Microsoft possibly subsidizing the Zune in order to gain market share and reach a critical mass needed to dig in to Apple's dominant iPod sales. It's a great idea, but the likelihood of Microsoft pulling something this "intelligent" seems quite slim to me. That said, it may be the only logical way for the Zune to become the "iPod killer" it's been hyped up to be.

Bad News Beyonce, Good News 3pm

Beyonce album sales fall after 'black' comments - Pop star Beyonce Knowles has sparked controversy by saying she only makes records for black people. Since the Deja Vu singer made the astonishing statement sales of her new album, B'Day, have fallen by 70 per cent in the US. Here is a link to the article that caused her to be booed at the MOBO awards in London. [1] [2]

Good news 3pm fans, some of the links highlighted as "bad" are working again. We are still working to get some more replacements for the rest as well as looking for more great music for your enjoyment. So if you see an mp3 link that you'd like to hear/get that's highlighted as bad, don't pass over it too quickly as it may actually work now. Thanks for all your patience and support.

3pm Injection [26]

Well, if you haven't noticed, 3pm had a lot of links go "dark" this week with the recent stampede of digg users. We did an emergency update to help everyone separate the good mp3 links from the bad ones, and we are working hard to get some new music for you. Remember to show your support by buying something from the 3pm Store, and tell your friends and family about us. Also, if you know of any artist, song, or other mp3 you'd like to share with us or want to see on 3pm, let us know. What sounds good to you sounds good to us, and we mean that. Don't be afraid to try some of the mp3 links that are still standing on 3pm, as a lot of them are really good. Enjoy the music and stay posted for more great things to come to your ears in the very near future.

Earl Simmons (aka DMX) speaks candidly about being raped by a Washington, D.C. woman. His rape subsequently resulted in him fathering a child with the same female. Gotta Digg Deeper Than That

3pm got hit pretty hard yesterday and today, by the digg community no less. No worries though, the Google Page Creator hosting held up like a champ and stood like a true soldier the whole time. There may be a few more bad links due to the barrage of digg users, but we're working on getting this mess cleaned up as quickly as possible so that you can continue to enjoy the music you like to hear. And to all the diggers out there, thanks for checking us out.

Opening Pandora's Box

Life Hacker has a list of 15 ways to get more out of Pandora that's pretty handy, there's even more tips in the comments that are worth checking out as well. I especially like the last part about riping and saving mp3 files from Pandora. But being an Ubuntu user now for a few months, I found an easier way to get and rename the mp3s it spits out that I like.

I found that the files show up in the /tmp folder as plugtmp-1, plugtmp-2, etc. or sometimes in the sub folder plugtmp. In order to keep Pandora from covering it's tracks on your hard drive, you can rename the files to what ever you like [as long as it's not one of the default names] and it will be there for you to listen to or move anywhere you want. I'm pretty sure this works in other Linuxdistros as well. Just make sure you refill your Karma meter by buying the CD or song from the artist you like every now and then.

Classic Cartoon MP3s
A ton of theme songs and pictures from cartoons. It also contains a link to classic TV Themes from the 50s through to the early 90s. [digg] [story]

G.I. Joe Theme
The Gumby Show Theme

Music News From Digg:

Microsoft Zune Commercial

Crazy flaming birds!? Is that all you could come up with Microsoft? I don't know about anyone else, but I don't want to burst into flames when someone shares their music with me. Quite disturbing.

In even more disturbing Zune news, apparently "Zune's Viral DRM Violates Creative Commons License" and the Microsoft Zune and PlaysForSure is NOT Compatable. "Pretty Zune" this is all there will be left to say about it. Just another good idea run over by idiocy, ignorance, and possibly even greed. We'll see if Creative can show Microsoft how it should be done with Zen Vision W.

Random Music From The Blog Side

Microsoft Launches the Zune Today!

WiFi, 30GB of HDD, built-in FM, a 3-inch screen and the basic music, pictures and video playback. They also finally let slip the screen res -- an unsurprising QVGA -- and some better news on the codec front: the Zune supports h.264, MP3, AAC and WMA.

iTunes 7 skips songs badly

I upgraded to ITunes 7 today and now ALL of the songs in my library are extremely distorted when I play them. There is crackeling, static, skipping, and they sound like garbage. When I play the same songs in a different media player they sound fine.

- So, not only do you have to worry about Apple's software being DRM'ed to death, now a bunch of your music will likely sound like crap playing in it. I also heard that customers have not been able to get support because a majority of Apple's employees got the iTunes 7 update the same time as everyone else. They haven't been trained, don't know how to fix the issues people are having, and are as clueless as their customers. Looks like Apple is pulling a "F.E.M.A." That's what happens when you keep secrets [even from your employees!?]. Good luck iPod users.
